Obituary

Constance Barbieri entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2024. Connie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Barbieri,Sr. and her adored son James. Connie grew up in Queens, NY, the fourth of seven children born to Madeline (Gambardella) and Giacomo Clemente. During her formative years she was known for her beauty, brains, and athleticism. She excelled on the handball courts and loved to roller skate. Connie graduated from John Adams High School in Jamaica, NY. She was introduced to the love her life, Frank, by her oldest brother Armand after the two best friends returned from WWII. The precocious tomboy had developed into a stunningly beautiful young woman. Frank was smitten and they married in the fall of 1948. The couple moved to the suburbs of Long Island where they were raising their four sons. Widowed at an early age, Connie was tasked with raising her two youngest sons on her own and re entered the workforce. She had a long and successful career as a paralegal at the Law Offices of Huwel & Mulhern in Garden City, NY. Connie is survived by her brother Rudolph Clemente, and her sisters Marion Vissichelli and Eleanor Melville and a sister-in-law, Theresa Clemente. Her sisters Jacqueline Spielman and Rita Pulito preceded her in death as did her brother Armand Clemente.

Her children Joseph Barbieri (Lauren), Francis Barbieri, Jr. (Linda), Steven Barbieri (Deborah) and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Barbieri, widow of James, will miss her terribly as will her ten grand children – Frank Barbieri (Tracy), Stephen Barbieri (Jenny), Joseph Barbieri, Christopher Barbieri (Bridget), Christine McKnight (Patrick), Alyssa Groleau (Ben), Jenna Barbieri, Justine Barbieri, Matthew Barbieri and Timothy Barbieri. Connie was also blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren all of whom loved and respected her. She loved watching this new generation of Barbieris grow and develop. The time she had to spend with them contained many joy –filled moments during this final chapter of her life. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her. Connie will always be remembered as being fiercely devoted to her family. She was a kind, generous, and caring person who was happiest being surrounded by her loved ones.
