Burial

Traditional funeral service

A traditional funeral service, typically held in the chapel of the funeral home, church or other facility, is conducted in recent days following a death. At a traditional service, the body is typically present in either an open or closed casket.

The service, generally led by a member of the clergy or other important figure, often includes prayers, songs and other rituals. Loved ones may be asked to speak and share memories and religious or family rituals may follow the service.

Once the service is complete, the body is transported to a cemetery for burial. A brief graveside can be held for the family and loved ones.

Caskets and Vaults

Choosing a casket and vault for your loved one is an important part of the planning process. Caskets are available in many types of materials and with many personalization options to reflect the life of your loved one.

A vault is an outer casket enclosure for use at the cemetery. Vaults are required by most cemeteries to protect the casket and grave space from the settling of earth.
