Gerald L. Solomon of Merrick, NY passed away on May 19, 2024 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Josephine. Devoted father of Bobbi Jo Thatcher (JJ), Gerald, and Kevin (Anna). Cherished grandfather of John, Joseph, Zachary, and step-grandfather of Hunter and Victoria. Adored brother of Phillip and the late Murray. Wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. Loving dog owner of the late Cody. Proud US Army Veteran. Gerald will always be treasured by his family who loved him dearly. His love for playing the ponies was religious. Trips to The Aqueduct and Belmont Raceway were like going to church, while the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes were high holy days. When he wasn’t handicapping the races, he was obsessing over the Rangers, Mets and Giants. We will miss him dearly and hold him in our hearts until we meet again. Family will receive friends Tuesday, post time at 4 pm with the end of the race commencing at 8 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY.
