Obituary

After a three year battle with cancer, Lillian Ross Holiner, passed away quietly at home on March 11th, 2024. She was 82. She was the beloved wife of Jonathan Holiner, whom she married the same night Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the moon. They remained loving partners for the next 54 years. For her son, Stephen, she was a cheerleader, a rock, and a source of great comfort—no one held more belief or faith in him than his mom. She was also the best "Rad" Grandma to Ben and Sadie, and fond memories of their time with her will remain cemented in their hearts. As a mother-in-law to Kim over the last 12 years, Lillian was warm and kind. Warmth, kindness and consideration were the hallmarks of Lillian’s life, which she spent nursing thousands of people back to health, as well as helping countless cats and dogs at Last Hope Animal Rescue.

Lillian now joins her parents Catherine and Otto, siblings Robert, June and Richie, along with many other relatives, friends and beloved pets. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will especially miss her enormous smile, her enthusiasm for helping others, and her love of telling slightly overcomplicated stories (often with overcomplicated hand gestures). They find great comfort in how, as a committed member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she didn't fear what was coming. Family will receive friends Friday, 1-4pm with a service from Pastor Remo 1:30-2pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY.
