My beautiful grandma, I miss you so much. You always cared for me whether that was coming to my school for mother’s day or singing me a lullaby before bed everything, you were always there for me. I will never truly be able to put into words to describe how much I love you but I know you feel it from up there. You were one of the strongest most resilient people I know and i’ve looked up to you since I was a little kid. You lived an amazing and long life and you mean the absolute world to me. You raised me since I was a baby and cared for me like a daughter, you are a mother to me and my best friend for years. I am so happy you’re with uncle, grandpa, and the rest of your family now at peace and free of pain, I know they are so grateful to have you back. You were the most influential woman I know and one day I hope I am even a quarter of the woman you are, and I hope you realize the imprint you left on everyone around you. I love you so much grandma, you deserve the world and more and I cannot wait to finally see you again, Rest in peace. Love, Mikayla <3

Catherine Badnow was my mother-in-law & friend. She always opened her doors to me, made me feel at home, and although she had a tough exterior, within there lied a true heart of gold shining from the inside out.
You gotta be tough, quite tough, to make it to 99.5 years of age. And that amount of time, it still just was not enough to me, nor to the rest of her family. Her beloved son Richie, grandkids Mikayla, Annie & Allie & myself, Michelle.
She was like the loving and compassionate mother that I barely ever had, to me. My sole regret was not meeting her sooner, to get to have her in my life longer. We had some really good times, and the life of the party she surely always was. To know her in her glory days would have been an incredible delight!
She was a fabulous, loving mom to her sons, William & Richard. And an adoring wife to her much loved husband William, whom she now resides in heaven with, along with her recently lost son, Billy. They’ve been reunited beyond the gates of heaven. I know with all my heart and soul, that she is exceedingly happy now, but on earth, all that know her & loved her, still can’t fully process her loss and her eldest son’s loss, as we continue to mourn on earth for them both.
She was the spitfire that nobody could forget, she would always cut a rug with you well, well into her 90’s. She was chocked full of stories from her incredible life, including her nearly 3 decade long career in corrections as a much loved & respected, jail officer. She was tiny, but very, VERY mighty. Toughest lady I ever met, but one of the sweetest & funniest ones too. She made us laugh up till her dying day. Catherine may have been ready to move on, but sadly, we were not.
We love you grandma Katie & mom! Until we meet again, keep a light on for us & have a blast, like I know you surely will! Here on earth, we miss you so.
We light a purple candle in your honor, as it was your favorite color.
