Condolences to all who were blessed to have known Gene. He was a wise, kind and caring man who possessed great integrity. He was my true north in good times and bad and was always someone you could count on. He cherished relationships and understood the importance of kind gestures. I am sorry for you loss.
Absolutely heartbroken my family was not informed that Gene passed. Wish I had had the opportunity to give Gene a proper goodbye. Gene was a fine man and the number ONE paramount positive male figure in my life starting when I was a very young child. He changed the course of my life in so many positive ways. He was a man of ethics, morality, conviction, and goodness knows he could debate a point with the best! He believed what he believed, period. Gene was such a generous man in all ways. He left his mark on all he came in contact with. He was impeccable with his word. He said what he meant and he meant what he said. For fifty years he was a part of my life. He will be so missed by me and countless others.
I love you, Gene "Bean"

I had the privilege of being Mr. Berks nurse for five years. never was there a day that went by that there wasn’t a smile on his face or a compliment to be had through all his pain and all his discomfort. He greeted me every day with a smile and a story some days we were just sit there and talk and I would listen to these phenomenal stories of when he was a beat cop, and when he was a captain, I would love to see him dressed up when he would go to his friends luncheons at old Street, or at Nappers. Mr. Burke. You were one of the finest people I ever met rest in peace my friend you will be missed

I have so many fond memories of Gene that it is difficult to articulate any particular one. He was not only very much respected in the New Youk State law enforcement communities, but was known on a national level also. The best to his family. Rest in peace my Friend.

What more can be said about Gene Burke? He has been honored deservedly so many times in his life. I and my father (Jimmy Burke, 18th Squad) both loved and respected him. He was a cop’s cop and a man’s man! He will be missed and never forgotten.
Sincerest condolences . Our prayers are with Gene and his entire family. God Bless-RIP!
