Joanne, you were my soul mate. Our love for one another never diminished. From the day we met at the Met’s bullpen many years ago, we had a love never equaled . lYou will always be in my thoughts as a piece of my heart is gone. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to say goodbye. My heart is heavy with knowing Joanne has passed. I can only imagine how shocking and devastating this is for you all … her precious family. Like so many others, I had the pleasure of knowing Joanne through our IBM careers. Simply put, she was a true role model … as an employee, a colleague, a manager, a mentor and most significantly, a friend. I have always admired her strength and commitment to exceed at anything she chose to tackle. I feel blessed in my life to have known her and I pray that her sisters and family members find strength in each other knowing how priceless your love is. Growing up in the Kennedy/Duke/Gallagher/HimmelWirth/Younameit clan we knew that blood was thicker than water. The "Himmel girls" lifted up our Mom Carol and everyone we knew. As a former employee of IBM, I had the pleasure of knowing Joanne for over thirty years. Initially in our roles in the administrative function and then in her role as an HR partner, I marveled at Joanne’s intelligence, business maturity and the advice and counsel both on and off the record she provided to me. Level headed (except when lamenting about her often disappointing Mets!), Joanne was the quintessential IBM’er. My deepest condolences to her family. Joe Secchio

My heart is broken for all of you. You know better than many of us how truly special Joanne was. I loved texting her out of the blue and she and my husband poking at one another about their METs.
