Obituary

Robert G. Butcher of Levittown, NY, passed away on August 2, 2023 at the age of 87. Though we are devastated by the loss of this beautiful man, we take comfort, knowing he is reunited in heaven with our mom, his beloved wife Flora. Bob was a devoted father to Christine Nadelman (Steven), Alice Peters (Bradley), Bobby, Susan Dittman, and Jean Kushel. Loving grandfather to Justin (Lena), Ian, Andrew and Alex and great-grandfather of Juliana. Bob served his country proudly in the US Army. The dad of dad’s, Bob was a man of few words but the presence of his love was always felt by all around him. He worked day and night for his family as an auto mechanic for the Ford Motor Company. He could fix anything. Anytime we had a problem he was there with his tools or a handkerchief. In his spare time, he was an avid reader, loved to tell stories, and a phenomenal skier. After retiring he got a job working for the Acme bus company transporting special needs children to school, adding a new found joy to his life. It’s hard not to picture him on the road, for that was where he was most in his element, driving from the beach to the cabin and beyond. There will never be anyone else like our daddy. We will carry him in our hearts forever. Family will receive friends Sunday, 2 pm – 6 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Avenue (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 11 am, at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church in Levittown, NY. Interment of ashes to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. www.osheafuneral.com
