Obituary

Walter was called home to eternal life on May 3, 2023. Loving father of Laura (Larry) and Meghan (Brent). Proud grandfather of 5 amazing grandchildren, that without doubt, meant the world to him. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy, his sister, Betty Ann and his brother-in-law, Fred. Walter was an adored friend to many. He grew up in Plainview, Long Island, then became a longtime resident of Farmingdale, NY, before recently moving to Florida. Walter was a proud retired electrician of Local 3 IBEW. He took great pride in his work and shared countless stories of the jobs he worked on and the strong friendships he developed. He was a proud American and a genuine New Yorker, who had a strong love for the New York Yankees. He could name the players and the game plays, dating back to when he was a young boy. Walter possessed an immense knowledge of New York City, specifically of the buildings he worked on and loved to reminisce back to those days. He was an animal lover, particularly for dogs, and a proud supporter for the ASPCA.

He was infamous for his simple attire of jeans, t-shirt’s, suspenders and flannels, and had a forever love for his 1963, candy apple red, Corvette Stingray convertible. Everyone who knew Walter felt his big heart and giving nature. Many days you were greeted by email, with a funny joke, a political meme or an interesting fact from him. He was always loving and supportive and he loved his family and friends dearly. His life with us was shorter than we could have ever imagined. Walter will be deeply missed but forever remembered. It’s never “goodbye”, it’s “until we meet again”. In remembrance of Walter’s life, the family asks for any charitable donations be made in his memory to the ASPCA and/or Wounded Warrior Project. We will gather to celebrate his life Wednesday, July 12, 2023 4:00pm - 7:00pm Albrecht, Bruno & O’Shea Funeral Home at 62 Carleton Ave, East Islip, NY 11730. Final resting place 10:30am Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery: 2030 Wellwood Ave Farmingdale, NY
