Robert was born to Henry and Rose McCormick in The Bronx, NY. He spent happy childhood years there with sister, Ellen Mahoney, and brother, Henry. He excelled in academics and as a result, graduated from All Hallows High School at the age of 16. Robert went on to a career in banking and served the New York State Banking Department for over 37 years. He rose through the career examiner ranks, becoming a Deputy Superintendent of Banks in 1982. As Deputy, Mr. McCormick headed up the Thrift Institutions Division, supervising savings banks, savings and loan associations and credit unions. He then went on to form a new Mortgage Banking Division which developed a whole new system of laws, regulations and examinations to provide for the complete supervision of the residential mortgage business across industry lines.

Obituary cont.

In his free time, he loved boating, fishing, and listening to Irish music. He loved a good hot dog and a good glass of wine. He loved his country, and took great pride in displaying its flag. He valued a strong education and strong ethics. Nothing made him happier though, than spending time with his beloved family - His wife of 58 years, Kathleen, son-Terence, daughter-Jean, daughter in law-Christine, son in law-Joe Chojnacki, his cherished granddaughters Hannah and Mallory, and his many nieces and nephews. On top of all his academic and professional achievements, he was a steadfast, loving, supportive, generous, kind, and funny man. He will be missed.
