Obituary

Carol J. Pope, 81, of Wantagh, NY passed away on May 7, 2023, due to complications associated with cancer. She was born on November 13, 1941, to Armand and Rea Paolucci in Bronx, NY. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from Hunter College. Early in life, Carol met Al (Lou), her husband of 59 years. They were blessed with two sons – John and Michael. After starting her family and moving to Long Island, she worked as a teacher’s aide for Special Education Needs Children at East Broadway Elementary School in Levittown, NY until she retired. She always enjoyed time with Lou and their family – John and his wife Renee along with their blended family Veronica and husband Bryan Feiler, Raquel Massoud, and Sabrina Pope; and Michael and his wife Deirdre along with their blended family Savanah and husband Blake Menendez, and Alexandra, Teddy, and Gemma Morhet. She found incredible joy in hearing about their adventures both professionally and in their personal lives. She looked forward to visits with them whether it be Friday pizza nights, weekly Sunday dinners, family vacations, or trips to see them in Florida and Arizona.

Additionally, she loved to travel. When she and Lou weren’t cruising the world with her brother Stephen and sister-in-law Jerry, you could find her playing Canasta and Mahjong or taking day trips with her girlfriends. You could always find her looking to keep her mind active by reading any book that wasn’t nailed down, doing Sudoku, playing games on her iPad, or reminding many of us about proper grammar and use of language, like the use of a “schwa” from her days as a Speech Pathologist.
