Obituary
Mary Margaret (Adrian) Ward, wife of the late Bernard Ward, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully on April 26th surrounded by family.
Mary was born in New York City on May 16, 1935 to the late Margaret and David Adrian. She grew up in Astoria Queens where she started her family. She later moved to Merrick where she raised her children and was well known in the community particularly at her library and church.
Mary was a great conversationalist, an avid reader and an accomplished knitter. She had a passion for her Scottish heritage and enjoyed traveling especially to the old country. She also enjoyed her annual visits to the beach in South Carolina.
Mary is survived by her children James, Mary, Susan, Patricia (Jimmy), Michael, Monica and Elizabeth (Mark), 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and her sister Elizabeth and nephew David. She was predeceased by her husband Bernie and her beloved grandson Charlie.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 1st at 10:30 am at Curé of Ars Church, 2323 Merrick Avenue, Merrick, NY. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale.
