Obituary

James A. Sanseverino, “Jimmy,” passed away on October 25, 2022 after an ongoing battle with various illness. He was 79. Devoted father of James, Janine Rotondo (Anthony), and Jennifer Conte (Antonio). Proud grandfather of Lorenzo, Antonio, Sofia, and Nico. Adored by his beloved Diane. Loving son of the late John and Mildred. Cherished brother of John and uncle of Elicia. Dear cousin of Rosemary. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, James had a love of life that radiated when he smiled. He took pride in everything that was important to him, whether he was singing doo wop songs, playing Frank Sinatra, or sharing his informed political opinions. As a die hard METS and Islanders fan, his love of his teams was unwaivering. Like any proud Italian, family and food went hand in hand. A fine Italian meal was a neccessity. Christmas Eve was his favorite Holiday, celebrating family and the Feast of the Seven Fishes was the highlight of each year. James treasured every day with his family, especially his grandchildren who fondly called him “Pop Pop” and “Grandpa.” James was a character in every sense of the word, and there will never be anyone else like him. He will be missed by all who knew him. Family will receive friends Friday, 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Avenue (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 9:15 am, at St. James R.C. Church in Seaford, NY. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. www.osheafuneral.com
