Obituary
James Smith (Jim) of Levittown, NY passed on August 16, 2022 after an incredible fight with pancreatic cancer. To know Jim was to adore him. There was nothing more he loved in life than his family, and everyone knew it. Growing up he was well known for his athletic ability, being the second person to win the Hanson Award for HS football in 1961. He was always supporting his children / grandchildren in anything they did. Sitting on the sidelines watching them play their sports brought the biggest joy to him. He had a hug that could cure all the problems in the world, and a twinkle in his eye that made every single day brighter. His positivity and love for life were contagious and just being in his gentle presence made any obstacle just a little easier to handle. If you grew up close by, your weekend mornings were waking up to him whistling in his garden, followed by backflips on the front lawn so all the kids could collect the change that fell out of his pockets. Or helping him around Christmas time hanging lights that took days to finish. Jim was very passionate about yoga and made many friends that became like family at Medwell Spa and Yoga Studio in Wantagh, NY.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maureen (Healey) Smith; his daughters Kristin (Smith) Johnston (late Scott), Kerrianne (Smith) Mosher, Shannon (Smith) Giudice (Charles); his grandchildren Olivia Johnston (Billy), Hannah Johnston, Kaeley Johnston (Tyler), Amelia Johnston, Molly Johnston, Rebecca Johnston, Natalie Johnston, Cody Ewald (Shelby), Benjamin Ewald (Kiara), Emily Ewald, Grace Mosher and Jason Giudice; His sisters Carol Wilkinson (deceased), Louise Douglas, Robin Yeomans, Vera Cottone. Brother In Law to Mike Healey (Lorraine), Virginia Lananna (Mike), James Healey (Cathie), Deborah Engelman (Harvey) and countless nieces and nephews.
