Dr. Nicole Petzolt lit a candle

I had not seen Michael in years. Veronica was a friend and a colleague. For a while, before they became grandparents, I spent a lot of time with them. The thing about Michael is that he was just so calm and kind. I had never met another man like him, well, except for perhaps another Michael who was a supervisor. But this Michael, the one who is an angel now, he never yelled or cursed or put his hands on anyone. He would get frustrated, sure, but he was so even-tempered, so, "Let's take a step back and calmly figure this out." It was new and unlike what I knew a man to be.
When I met Michael he had been diagnosed with MS and it made him so tired. Still, he didn't yell or grumble (at least not to me) and would politely excuse himself to go to bed.
He loved their dogs, and while I never saw them interact I know he loved his grandkids. And it is so sad they will not be able to grow up with this wise, calming presence in their lives. Hopefully his daughters can channel it for them. His love is etched forever in their hearts.
He was not perfect, none of us are, but he was good. And because I knew him, Michael, because I knew you, I have been changed for good. May you rest in peace and may your memory be a blessing.

Michael was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a devoted son and brother, a caring nephew, uncle and friend. His life was a remarkable example of courage, fortitude and hope. We will miss you Michael but are comforted in the knowledge that your struggle is over and you rest in the arms of the Lord. Your loving aunt and uncle Maureen and Arthur Citarrella
