Obituary Part 1

Osman “Ozzie” Malile October 30, 1940 - March 15, 2022 Ozzie was born on a Wednesday in Manhattan, New York. He was welcomed into this world on October 30, 1940, to the late Sam and Selo Malile, two hard working Albanian immigrants who opened an ice-cream and soda shop on Delancey Street, and his mother - a seamstress for Roxanne’s in New York City. Ozzie passed away peacefully on his father’s birthday, March 15th, celebrating life. Hardworking as he was, Ozzie worked from before the age of 18 at smaller side jobs, to the age 65, retiring at Slant/Fin, a well known heating equipment supplier. Anybody that grew up with Ozzie and knew him well would say his favorite “job” was to be a handyman around the house. He was immersed in his NY sports teams, especially the Mets and Jets, which then became a lifelong hobby of his to watch these games with his family, notably with his son Kelly. He enjoyed swimming in his backyard, and bicycling through the city with his friend Benny. He continued his exercise at FitForLife Gym in Johnson County, connecting with new gym buddies. Ozzie was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend and soulmate, Patricia Ann Hoffman, on May 27, 1967 at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Queens, NY. Ozzie helped raise his three children; Tracy, Kelly, and Toniann, with a lot of patience, discipline, and humility. He frequently took his family on trips in his green van, (not without fresh pancakes being stocked), to adventure parks and Upstate NY to visit his brother Ralph and his wife Pat. Ozzie and his brother-in-law Tommy had a special brotherly bond spending many laughable moments together. He created and grew a life in New York, and was known by many, especially the community he was a part of in Ozone Park. To no surprise there were endless amounts of people that wanted to be surrounded by him when living in North Carolina for the last 15 years.

Obituary Part 2

Ozzie was a very proud grandfather, and luckily a great grandfather. He was supportive to his grandchildren during basketball, volleyball, and gymnastic tournaments, and was overjoyed by watching his grandbabies become loving parents themselves. Ozzie was a proud Albanian, teaching his family any Albanian words he remembered. A leader at heart, he was expressive and transparent, and always had time to answer questions or solve a problem, no matter how small. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones. Ozzie is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children Tracy Higgins (Edward), Kelly Malile (Lois), and Toniann Stewart (Edward); his grandchildren Taylor Higgins, Edward Higgins, Cortney Lee (Justin), Victoria Stewart (Tony Lynn), Edward Stewart, and Marissa Malile; his great-grandchildren Branson Lee, Braelynn Lee, and Antonio Lynn; his brother-in-law Tom Hoffman; his sister-in-law Patricia Malile. He is preceded in death by his brother Ralph Malile and his parents Sam and Selo. Funeral Arrangements Saturday March 26th, 2022 - New York Charles J.
