Obituary
ROMMELSBACHER, Kathleen (Ryan) of North Bellmore, NY passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022. Kathleen was born in Woodside, New York on the coldest day recorded in New York City history, February 9th, 1934 when the temperature was -15. As a first-generation Irish-American, Kathleen grew up within a close-knit family with her beloved cousins living among the neighboring row houses. Kathleen married “the love of her life”, Robert (Bob) Rommelsbacher, in 1954 at the age of 20. They moved to North Bellmore in 1964 and lived there for the next 58 years. After Bob passed away in 2011, Kathleen continued to live in the house without much change. She was active at church and loved her regular lunch meetings with friends and family. Kathleen was known to be a caring listener, always following up with friends and family eager to support them. Kathleen always looked forward to family visits and had many happy memories of family vacations with her grandchildren.
Kathleen was a kind, caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter Diane Frost, son-in-law Tim, and her cherished grandchildren, Alex, Victoria and husband Ben Boyd, and William. Known as MomMom to the grandchildren, Kathleen loved to spend time with them and was always willing to travel to support them at their special events and graduations. While she didn’t drive into New York City, she was still taking the LIRR for family visits.
Family will be receiving friends, Monday, February 21st, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 2515 N. Jerusalem Rd. (Exit 25N Southern State Parkway), East Meadow, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 22nd, 9:45 am, at nearby St. Raphael’s R.C. Church. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. www.osheafuneral.com
