Reggio – Kathryn D., (nee Driscoll) of Wantagh, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Robert S. Reggio. Devoted mother of the late Robert R. and his wife Diane and their children Jonathan (Barbie) and James, Cathryn and her husband Frank Romano and their children Jason (Andrea), Jessica (Timothy), and Jonathan, Joseph and his wife Lorianne and their children Melissa (Kevin), Kaitlin (Brett), and Matthew (Alyssa), William and Judi and children William, Jr., Kathryn, Taylor and Jenna. She cherished her ten great grandchildren. Loving sister of the late Jack Driscoll, and dearest Aunt to his children Laura (Roger Barbaro) and Colleen.

Kathryn Driscoll Reggio, PhD, lifelong educator dies at 94. Born in 1926, Kathryn was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an incredibly strong, selfless woman, with a unique grace that all who knew her admired. She worked and put herself through college and earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College – later her PhD from St. John’s University, during a time when very few women did. She worked full-time as a High School English teacher and part-time as a professor. Later, she was a Special Education teacher of severely disabled children and then was promoted to be an administrator receiving the title of Director of Elementary Education at the Henry Viscardi School – all while raising her four beloved children.

She lived her faith and inspired her family, those she taught, and all who knew her. She passed her profound love of learning, wisdom, and appreciation of the Arts onto her children and grandchildren. Her passions were for her family, friends, holidays, literature, Shakespeare, Broadway, museums, music, history, science, the English Language and traveling. She was an altruistic and charitable woman - and an active member of the Rosary Society. She spread the importance of honor and being kind to all. She was an extraordinary woman who spread love and joy to all our family, relatives, friends, as well as her students. Her warmth will always be cherished, and she will live Forever in All Our Hearts!
