Cecilia Citarella (Augustowski) died peacefully in her own home on January 23, 2020 surrounded by loving family at the age of 103. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Albert, sisters, Frances Augustowski and Genevieve “Gaye” Ujazdowski, and brothers, Chester and Benjamin Augustowski. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Citarella Garvey (Maurice), son, Alan Citarella (Sandra), adored grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Citarella, Sister Florence Harsche, many lovingly remembered nieces and nephews, foster children, and friends Karen and Robert Visone, as well as many neighbors and family friends. Cecilia was born in 1916 in Brooklyn NY and grew up in a, then, rural Jamaica Queens, NY. She and her husband moved to East Meadow in 1952. Cecilia was an avid gardener, baker and seamstress. She tended her garden and lawn herself until she was aged 93. She sewed enthusiastically for her children, grandchildren, foster children and herself. She was a loving foster parent for over 15 years and a devout parishioner Of St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church since 1952. Family will receive friends Monday, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 9:45 am, at St. Raphael R.C. Church in East Meadow, NY.
