I am so sorry to read about Flora's death. I was a freshman and sophomore on her Nassau Community College cross-country team in 1979-1980. I was terrible, honestly, but just loved the sport. And Flora was always encouraging -- the team's coach, chauffeur and biggest fan. Thank goodness running became part of my life, which is largely due to Flora. She was my running mom.
So, not so ironically, I am in last place here, four years late. Wishing you all peace and warm memories.

Flora always inspired us to do our best and to reach realistic goals. She was the shoulder we cried on when Gary got sick and a pillar to lean on when the unthinkable happened. “Coach” we will always remember your smile and encouragement. Thank You to the Butcher family for sharing this remarkable woman with us. Love you Flora!

Flora was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with. I valued her opinions more than most medical professionals. She made everyone work to be their best and I will be forever grateful for everything that she did for me and my husband. She will be missed more than anyone realizes

We will all missed Flora. She was a wonderful women who role modeled what it means to live life well. She the only one I knew that never stop moving. It was always go go go and this was inspirations for many of us. She love being outdoors doing anything possible that involved exercising. She encouraged others to be best that they can be. Great people such as Flora are inspiration to others around her. My heartfelt condolences for the Butcher family XOXO

My mother was the epitome of love, joy, compassion, leadership, understanding. There are no words for how much she gave of herself and what she taught others.. I will miss her dearly for all she gave us as a beautiful family.
Her role as an exercise physiologist was her true vocation giving to others even in her days of such bravery through everything.
Everybody wanted to be like Flora..
Maybe we can all in some way, Walk the footsteps that she always did in her life with her head held high,,,alongside as she did with her loving husband and Father,,Bob Butcher...
I will miss you forever Mommy. Your #3 daughter.
