Obituary

CAHILLANE-Josephine “Josie" (nee Leahy), a longtime and original resident of Central Park Estates in Bethpage, New York passed away on Thursday morning, August 15, 2019 – the feast of the Assumption of Mary. Josephine was proceeded in death by many of her loved ones including her mother and father, Mary and Patrick Leahy; several siblings who died shortly after birth and her bother Maurice Leahy, sisters Kate Sullivan and Maureen Baker and their spouses Dan Sullivan and Mick Baker; her husband of 39 years Patrick Joseph Sr.; and her son-in-law Michael Weicht recently deceased in October 2018 (Patrick Joseph Jr). Josephine, born and grew up a few miles west of Dingle, Co. Kerry Ireland right on the eastern coast of the Atlantic Ocean. She immigrated to New York City (the Bronx) at the young age of 18 in 1948 where she lived until 1962. Josephine moved with her husband and young family to Jamaica (Queens), New York where she raised her family and lived for 30+ years – then moving to Bethpage, NY.

Part 2

Josephine lived a long full life – hard working, successful, and good natured. Her health diminished rapidly over the past 18 months primarily due to seriously impaired vision, loss of mobility and her worsened hearing loss - compromising her much loved independence and free spirit. Left to cherish her memory are her children Annamaria Testa (Robert), Patrick Joseph Jr. (the late Michael Weicht), and Sean; her grandchildren Michael Testa (Kelsey) and Brian Testa (Amanda); her great granddaughter Laine Rose Testa; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and great grandnephews in the United States, Ireland, England and Canada. Family will receive friends Sunday August 18, 7-9pm; Monday August 19, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10 am, at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, 203 Central Avenue, Bethpage, NY. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
