His family and ours grew up on Grant avenue sharing numerous holidays and wonderful memories... Will forever be known to all of us as Uncle Herb... Each trip back to EM always included a visit to the Werners.... May you rest in peace and may your family know you were loved...

living on Grant Ave was being part of the family our parents created! Memories were made for all of us kids and there were many kids! I knew my parents forged close friendships with the Werner family because we called them Aunt Barbara & Uncle Herb. Uncle Herb took turns with my dad starting the grill for summer BBQs, shared the love of pools, and family catches in each other’s backyards. Uncle Herb found my first car when I was 17 and helped me maintain my future vehicles till I moved to my first home away from East Meadow. The Werner’s were always on our list to visit when us Kautzmann kids returned to the block! I will never forget the memories of Easter Sunday’s showing off our new dresses and shoes, Halloween costumes and ringing the Werner’s doorbell, sharing wedding days as each of us grew up and got married with cameras on the front lawn. Uncle Herb you made my childhood wonderful thank you for the warm memories Rest In Peace, Lori Kautzmann

I have many fond memories growing up around the Werner family. Mr. Werner will be greatly missed. He was a smart, insightful man, who truly cared about family and friends. Losing him is like losing part of my family.
