We all had a crush on Mr. Hessimer, our gym teacher and he never knew it. He actually taught us to dance in gym class. Does anyone remember the BROOM DANCE. 1958-1960. He was such a contributor to healthy, spirited youngster! Rest In Peace.

I attended Clearstream ave in the 1950’s. Mr Hessemer was what we called him to his face and Phil behind his back. He is today a strong memory in my heart as well as my brother, hal and all our friends who lived on buscher ave. He was a very good man and a positive influence on the lives of those who went to Clearstream. Rest In Peace. And do a few pushups for me. Barry Kaplan

It was my pleasure and honor to have met Phil
We chatted about his experiences during WW2 and his destroyer duty
Talking to him confirmed in my mind that he was a charter member of the “greatest generation “
May he Rest In Peace
