I saw tonight in this weeks bulletin that Greg had passed away.
I was shocked and sad when I read it.
All those years of coaching with him going to crazy Youth Guild meetings, I will always remember.
My sympathy and compassion go out to Sandy Peter and Lauren.
May he rest in peace.

To the Garafola family; I have worked with Greg since the mid 80's. For years on end with only short periods of time not working directly with him. You being his blood family know the man he is. He always spoke to me with pride and joy of his children, grandchildren, his wife and parents.
To his work family, he was one of the most reliable, steady and personable men I have ever had the honor of working with. When we were Electricians together, we spent many days and nights making major emergency repairs, he was just about always at my side. When I became Foreman and he picked back to Manhattan he was my assistant, he always held the fort down, I trusted him fully. He worked hard as the shop steward. I attended many labor management and other meetings with him. He always had the best interests of the men in his heart. Greg was well respected. Besides a co-worker for decades, he was my friend. You will be greatly missed my Friend.

I am so saddened to hear about Greg's passing. I will always have great memories of our times at Peck Park and St. Kevin's baseball. He was a good guy and my dad and him formed a lasting friendship. Last time I saw Greg was at my dad's wake. May he rest in peace and my love and condolences to Sandy, Peter and Lauren.

My memories of Greg will always bring a smile to my face. He was always so friendly and smiling. I loved how he would always invite me up for a glass of wine...no matter what time. I am so very sorry.

Dear Sandy-
Greg is a wonderful man and he will be dearly missed. His last words to me while chatting outside on Midwood was, "I love my life." I am so shocked and saddened by his passing, but I am also heartened thinking how glad I am to have met him, gotten to know him and befriended him. He's a gentleman who was always fair minded and welcoming. He spoke of his great love for his family and his love for his grandchildren. God Bless his soul. He is safe in the hands of our Lord. We are here for you. God be with Greg and God be with all the Garafola family. I've lowered the flag to half-mast in his honor.
Please accept our condolences, Peter McHale and Ted Thresher

I'm so saddened to hear of this. Only knowing Greg since he moved to North Bellmore, he has become a friend. Always a smile and a wave at least. We frequently would stand in the middle of the street for 1 question and end up talking for 45 mins in the street. I'm truly sad knowing my friend wont be there for these talks. Please dont hesitate to call me or ring my bell for ANYTHING!
Midwood wont be the same without you Greg, Rest In Peace.
Love Frank, Karen and Frankie.

I was lucky enough to grow up where much of my family lived on the same block. My cousin Greg lived on that block and I got to watch him almost on a daily basis torment our Uncle Phil, Greg was either fooling with Uncle Phil's beloved Christmas lights or his bird bath, it was classic. I will always miss those times and I will miss Greg, Rest in Peace and God Bless his family.

There are absolutely no words to express how deeply we are saddened by Greg’s sudden passing. The wonderful memories that he has left with his family will be everlasting ones of what a great Husband, Father, Father-in-law, and above all the Best Grandfather that any child could ask for.
My thoughts and prayers go out to both the Garafola Family and Joe, Lauren, Gianna, Olivia, and Sophia Chirco.
RIP Greg.
