The Gentle Giant
We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Craig Kelly. Craig that gentle giant who was loved by all who knew him. In doing so we will explore some aspects to this thing we call living and the impact it has on our lives.
We often go about day to day living our routine lives or living the expectations and going through the nuances set by society’s requirements. We go to school, get our first job, make some money, meet a girl or guy, get married have kids and move into a home of our own. Work, pay bills, provide shelter for our loved ones and chillax on the weekends. Yes…we go through the motions of trying to achieve those secret dreams; those stole upon moments we keep in the cortex of our mind. We breeze on and living the best choice of living we know how and then LIFE blindsides us.
LIFE is that entity that comes to remind us every now and again that we are living on borrowed time…time that Life itself renders control. LIFE does not hold its tongue…make no promises and at times takes no prisoners. LIFE doesn’t care if you are young or old, black or white, rich or poor or in the best of health. LIFE comes eager to show you things, by changing up things…knocking down ideas and shaking up worlds…LIFE does not discriminate.
Brother Craig was just at the point of reinventing the way that he was living, striving to improve on his well being. Always that very private person; he was just beginning to come into his coming out so to speak. Putting in positive moves and actions to be more connected with the thinking and the mindsets of his millennial minions that bring sparkle to his life. After providing for his family amidst the ugly face of Corrections for so many years…he cherished his quite, predictable sentry lifestyle. He lived in awe of his daughters cashing in on securing careers that were lateral with their degrees. That 40% chance of obtaining a job in a field of your major was accomplished by both of his daughters….that was a blue ribbon of pride he wore pinned beneath the skin of his collar bone…right next to his heart. Perhaps a man of little words or at times spoken in disguise…his energy itself relayed the pride he had in his principled daughters.
His house, his dream of home ownership…fulfilled. A backyard and lawn fanatic he loved to mow his lawn, do yard work and incorporate bushes and other foliage on the property. Going to the supermarket, specialty stores and oh yes…a fan of Home Goods…he fulfilled his small passions with these activities and living his best ever.
But LIFE don’t care if you now have free time…don’t care if you opening up to traveling….not even a second thought that you’ve been strongly considering a whole new mode of living. LIFE will invade your presence with its own selfish itinerary and change your world forever.
So if you’re just a little bit on the fence about how things are going; unsatisfied with your current outcome….afraid to change up how you do things day to day; remember to live your LIFE with positivity, mindfulness and gratitude. Live your LIFE with purpose, integrity and humbleness. Live your LIFE with sincerity, honesty and understanding of others. Stop letting fear harness you and prevent you from experiencing all the joy that you can and record those memories to reminisce upon in latter days. Live…love…laugh…languish…lavish…luxuriate and labor for what your soul desires. Live your best LIFE for each and every day that you are living…for at some point the inevitable will manifest and…LIFE itself will visit you.
LIFE paid a visit in our personal cipher and our Gentle Giant Craig Kelly was captured in its midst and we now endure Life’s impact. You made it easy for us to love you Craig Kelly; and in our hours of missing you please know that already we are internally wearing identical tattoos of a hole on the left hand side of our hearts. It represents that missing piece to our puzzle.
