I have to share this little story: George was a member of my small team of lung cancer advocates who undertook a successful project to revise NCCN treatment guidelines for Stage IV NSCLC patients to include curative intent treatment for oligometastasis in 2014 (he was a tireless lung cancer advocate, who provided assistance, guidance, hope and comfort to countless lung cancer patients, including myself). When gathering team member pics for possible use in an NPR piece that was being published about our success, he responded, after much grumbling, with a picture of his wife Joanne with sons Peter and Zachary. When I protested, he produced a picture of his pooches, and on and on. He eventually produced a picture of himself, but with a miserable frown on his face. I was finally able to obtain a suitable picture of George by cropping a picture of George and Joanne. For me, this little anecdote captures many elements of the quintessential George – his priorities, his self-deprecating nature, his devilish sense of humor . . . RIP dearest George, I will always love you. My deepest heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife and sons.

Light, Peace, and Love for the spirit of George Haughton.
I've only encountered George 5 times and each time, I saw a kind soul in an earthly body. I remember how welcoming he always was towards me, with an open heart and open arms. Very kind...and humerous. That is the George I met, know, and remember.
May his soul rest in peace, free of earthly suffering and tribulations.
I'm thankful for having known him.
In light, peace, and love... Donna

I was blessed to meet George when my husband was facing end stage lung cancer, and we were totally lost, locked in fear. Suddenly, there was this light, shining brightly, guiding us through the maze...which is what George did for anyone in need. He shared his wisdom, and gave us all hope, and support...
He would hate any praise for doing what he felt was 'normal.' But to all whose lives he touched, he was a rare gift, and a dear friend. But his greatest joy was his loving wife and sons, and his puppies. Our hearts go out to his beautiful family, - who graciously shared him with us. Peace and comfort to them, and gratitude. George, you have joined the ranks of the All Stars, shining above. You are still lighting the way - and will remain ever in our hearts...We will carry on in your memory.

You were always such a Power of Example to me and so many others. When my daughter was diagnosed with Glioblastoma 4 years ago you took the time to help me get thru that terrifying time. We were all Bless to have you in our Lives and call you "FRIEND". So saddened by this news. Sending deepest condolences to all of your family....
