Leila Hanna, age 86 of West Hempstead, New York, passed away at her home on Monday, September 4th, 2017. She spent her final hours with loving family and passed peacefully surrounded by her children and brother by her side. She was the loving mother of three children and grandmother of 11 who all benefited from the shining light of love and generosity that was her gift. Leila was born in Ramallah Palestine and came to the US with her family as a young girl. She worked for Nikon for 25 years and long after her retirement, not one to sit still, she was working as a Nassau County Crossing Guard, in Valley Stream. Leila was an excellent cook and one of her great expressions of love for her family or anyone that entered her home was her cooking. She enjoyed feeding you well, and you could taste that love with every bite you took. She was a woman of great faith and shared that with her Church Community, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in East Meadow, where she was an active participant. Leila leaves behind 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 loving daughters-in-law’s, 2 sisters and a bother. She touched the hearts of many and will truly be missed. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 14th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, East Meadow, NY. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am the following day. She will be laid to rest at Greenfield Cemetery.
