Anita and I meet Stan (we referred to him as "Stan the Man") at Suffolk Archers Club a couple of years ago during a veteran shoot sponsored by the Northport VA. We joined the club about that same time and had a great time with Stan walking the course and shooting arrows together. Stan and I are about the same age (I am 73) both of us Navy Veterans.
We have not been to the club in over a year so we have not seen Stan for a long time and if he had a health problem we were unaware of it. When I received the email from the club with Stan's picture about his passing it came as a shock to us. We do not personally know that many of the club members but Stan stood out as friendly and warm hearted person that we enjoyed being around. We were suppose to get together again at the club and shoot a few arrows on the course but it never seemed to happen.
The moral of that story is that if you wait too long to do something with a friend, that something might never happen due to life's circumstances then it's too late.
The Bible says that as believers our names are written in the Lambs (Jesus) Book of Life and to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD. I did not know Stan's personal belief only God knows the heart, I can only hope that he is in the arms of Jesus now. The life and the time we have on this earth is miniscule when compared with eternity. Our Heavenly Father offers that life eternal who has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Anita and I offer our sincere condolences to Stan's family of whom we have never met.
May God supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen.
