Obituary

AMATO – Jerome “Jerry” formerly of Uniondale and Mt. Sinai, NY at the age of 67 after a long battle with Leukemia. Loving son of Yolanda and the late Louis Amato. Cherished brother of Joseph (Margaret) and Dolores Brethel (Rick). Adored by his eight nephews. Decorated US Air Force Vietnam Veteran. Dedicated member of the Vietnam Vets of America: Chapter 82 and Chapter 11 of Suffolk County, NY. Proud Ex-Commissioner of the Uniondale Fire Dept. Engine Company 3, House and Field Instructor at the Suffolk County Fire Accademy and the Brentwood Fire District, and member of the Coram Fire Department. Family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Home: 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Firematic Service will be held Wednesday, 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, 10:00 am, at St. Frances de Chantal R.C. Church Wantagh, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery.
