Obituary Part 1

On Tuesday September 29, 2020, Patricia Devlin (nee McCormack) was called home by Jesus Christ at the age of 88. Patricia was born on March 13, 1932 in Bayside, Queens, New York to James and Mary (Kiesel) McCormack. Patricia lived in Bayside and Mt Kisco with her parents and sister Jean until marrying Patrick F. Devlin on June 27, 1953. Together with her husband she raised three children, Patrick J. Devlin, James M. Devlin and Nancy A. Devlin during which there was never a dull moment! Throughout her adult life she moved with her family as a result of her husband Patrick’s long career with Western Electric (now AT&T) living in such places as: Bethpage, NY; Buffalo, NY; Fairfax, VA; New Providence, NJ; Columbus, Ohio and as far south as Atlanta, Georgia until settling in Bryn Mawr, PA. Patricia never failed to rise to the challenge and create a loving home for her family. She was well loved by the many people she met throughout her life making life-long friendships in all of the places she called home. After Patrick’s retirement, Patricia and her husband became co-owners of the travel agency All Seasons Travel in King of Prussia, PA. Patricia loved traveling both domestic and abroad. Patricia shared her love for travel by sponsoring yearly ‘caravans’ to Ireland (her favorite destination) which incorporated various spots around the country. Patricia and her husband would often stay in Ireland after the rest of the ‘caravan’ departed back to the States in order to visit with the Devlin (known as Divilly in Ireland) family living in Ireland.

Obituary Part 2

After eventually retiring from the Travel Agency business Patricia and her husband packed up and retired to Wilmington, NC and finally to Atlanta, GA to be closer to her children. When Patricia wasn’t raising her children or traveling the world, she enjoyed playing bridge with friends, doing crossword puzzles, playing golf and ice skating. Patricia was an avid reader and could often be found near a pile of books. She loved biographies, books about WW2 and historical fiction suspense thrillers. Patricia had a fierce love for her family that only grew as the family grew. Patricia was happiest when her family would come together and spend time at her home. She enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren around the table for big family dinners filled with stories, love and immense amounts of laughter. Patricia was predeceased by her husband (Patrick), her parents (James and Mary), sister (Jean) and her two grandchildren (Sean and Caitlin). She is survived by her children (Patrick, James, and Nancy), her grandchildren (Ian, Erin, Miranda and MacKenzie), and her great-grandchildren (Liam and Ayden Rose). Family will receive friends Monday, October 5th from 5pm-8pm, at Charles J, O’Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY 11793. Flowers are lovely, however, if you prefer, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 9:30am at St. Bernard RC Church located at 3100 Hempstead Tpke, Levittown, NY 11756. Internment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.
