GAVIN - Mary Jane (O'Connor), of Hawley, PA, formerly of Wantagh, NY, blessed by a long life, died on July 18, 2019, in her 95th year. Born August 19, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, to her loving parents William and Kathleen O'Connor. She married Thomas William Gavin, Jr. on September 16, 1950. Her beloved husband died on December 20, 2011. Mary Jane was a Dame in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and a Dame of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC. While she dedicated her life to volunteering and working with charitable organizations, she was foremost a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary Jane is survived by her seven children: Tara Nykaza, Colleen Charlesworth (Finn), Christopher (Helen), Brian (Mary), Erin vonUffel (Kurt), Michael (Susan), and Deirdre Post (Lawrence). Proud grandmother of 28 and great grandmother of 17. Predeceased by her younger sister Patricia Lynch, and younger brothers William and Robert O'Connor. Family will receive friends Monday, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at the Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Home, 603 Wantagh Ave. (Exit 28N SS Pkwy) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10 am, at St. Frances de Chantal RC Church in Wantagh, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY.
