Obituary

FANNING – Eileen R. (nee Purcell) of Levittown, died on June 23, 2016 at the age of 84. Loving wife of deceased Joseph M. Devoted mother of Joseph P. (Kathleen), Michael, Stephen, Terrence (Marisa), Deborah (Richard C.), Richard, and Dennis (Laurel). Cherished grandmother of the deceased Kelly, Shannon Eibach (Paul), Meghan Jackowiak (John), Daniel, Sean, Bryan, Erin, Ashley, Nicole, Brendan, Charlotte, Liam, Aidan, Patrick, and Rylee Jean. Much loved great-grandmother “Nana” of James Joseph and Matthew Eibach. Sister of deceased William, J. Francis, Edward, Nora Gasper, and M. Rita Goshefski. Eileen served as a child and youth advocate in PTA work from the Unit level to the Nassau District level. She was appointed Nassau District Director by the New York State PTA for 1984 to 1986. A parishioner of St. Bernard Church from 1953, she felt privileged and very honored to have served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was elected as Regent of Court St. Pius X #1690 for 2000 to 2002. She was a donor to many charitable organizations including Veterans, The Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, St Labre and St. Joseph’s Indian Schools, many health related agencies and to missions and to missionaries throughout the world. She was the sponsor-godmother to Meredith and Fatima through CFCA (Christian Foundations for Children and Aging) She loved to care for her grandchildren, do needlework, and to work and tend to her bountiful garden. Family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday, 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Home 603 Wantagh Ave (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 10:00 am, at St. Bernard’s R.C. Church Levittown, NY. Interment to follow at Holy Rood Cemetery. www.osheafuneral.com
