Obituary
Richard E. Finnegan, affectionately known as Ric, passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 61. A true original, Ric was a gentle soul who lived life on his own terms, finding joy in the simple things and comfort in the quiet corners of the world.
Born on August 29, 1963, to the late Eugene and Marion Finnegan, Ric was a beloved brother to Robert (the late Joan), Russell (Diane), and Maureen Korianski, and was predeceased by his siblings Marianne Perrone and Ronald. He is also survived by his devoted niece Nina, whose council and compassion during Ric’s tough times, never went unnoticed..
Ric's life was filled with unexpected friendships and a unique rhythm that he alone could follow. Though he never drove, he had a lifelong passion for cars—a love that found new depth through his friendship with an elderly neighbor who shared that same spark. Ric channeled that passion into his work at Rayco and later at Tijuana Customs, where he restored dune buggies with care and craftsmanship. He was immensely proud of his work, never shy to share photos of his projects, beaming with the pride of a true artisan.

Nature was another of Ric’s sanctuaries. He spent many cherished years visiting his parents’ ten-acre property upstate, a haven filled with trees, wildlife, and the quiet peace he so deeply appreciated. Whether wandering its paths or simply sitting among the trees, those visits were some of the happiest moments of his life.
Ric had a great fondness for classic television, especially the show MASH*, whose mix of heart and humor seemed to mirror his own. He was a free bird—quirky, independent, and true to himself. Though his path through life was often solitary, Ric found strength and serenity at St. James Roman Catholic Church in Seaford. The priests and community there offered him kindness and trust, making it a spiritual home where he found peace.
Ric Finnegan will be remembered for his passion for the things he loved, and his quiet, unwavering authenticity. He walked to the beat of his own drum—and the world was better for it.
