Obituary

Charlie was born in Brooklyn on October 15, 1940 and moved with his family to Levittown in 1949. While growing up in Levittown he attended and graduated from Levittown Memorial High School. Upon his granduation in 1958, he joined the Marine Corps. he was stationed in Quantico as part of a special training unit preparing officers for combat. He served from 1958 through 1961. When Charlie completed his service, he returned to Long Island and joined Metallurgical Processing Corporation. Initially he started working as a truck driver, eventually becoming the Shipping & Receiving Manager and finally the Night Foreman. After Learning the business, Charlie started Burton Heat Treating in 1971. Under Charlie's leadership, Burton Heat Treating has grown and developed a sterling reputation for high quality service and partnership with the Long Island Aerospace Community and across the nation. Always full of energy, Charlie founded North East Finishing (NEFCO) in 1996 and has provided the same leadership that has guided the company to prominence on Long Island.

Charlie is a dedicated family man. He married his childhood sweetheart Cecelia and was married for more than 60 years until her passing in 2020. Charlie and Cecelia have 4 children Charles, Jr. (Mary Ellen), Thomas (Christine), Donna, Debbie and 8 grandchildren Charlie III, Danielle, Amanda, Christine, Ryan, Melissa, Matt, and Sammy and 6 great-grandchildren Tyler, Charlotte, Ryan, Jr., Cecelia, Brody, and Cecelia Ida. Charlie has provided constant support for his family, which has been his single most important priority. In the community Charlie has been an important Board of Directors member of ADDAPT from its inception and he been a consistent contributor to any and every cause that has needed help, most importantly however, Charlie has been a mentor, advisor, matchmaker, partner, helper and friend to everyone he is associated with in the industry and the neighborhood. Charlie has been the glue that holds us all together...
