Obituary

Audrey Ella Victoria Wilson Rutley- former resident of Bellmore NY and Mt Pocono, PA passed away April 20th 2020. Audrey was born May 7th, 1933 in NYC. She grew up in Queens NY with her sister Muriel and parents Victoria and Gordon Wilson. Audrey lost her mother at age 3 and her 2 grandmothers stepped into help raise the 2 sisters. Audrey attended SUNY at New Paltz and graduated with a teaching degree. She went on to teach second grade in the Bellmore school district. She met and married Kenneth A Rutley on Nov 24th, 1957. They welcomed 4 children, Lynn, Doug, Glenn and Steven. Audrey began her second career as a successful Real Estate agent and Manger at Century 21 in Seaford NY. Audrey was widowed in June of 1997 with Ken’s sudden passing. Audrey is remembered as loving, caring, artistic, adventurous and trusted leader. She was active in all the churches she attended, fundraising, teaching Sunday School, youth group, and leading a 4H group. She was an active volunteer including reading to the blind and helping at a home for the disabled adults. After retiring she enjoyed playing bridge, entertaining friends, quilting, cooking, golfing, traveling to Myrtle beach SC to their vacation home, and spending time with her grandchildren. Audrey made a difference and touched the lives of her many friends and enjoyed life. She is survived by her daughter Lynn & Michael Ackerman, sons Doug & Barbara Rutley, Glenn & Lisa Rutley, Steven & Laura Rutley, and 8 grandchildren, along with her sister Muriel DeLorio, and 4 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
