Obituary

Albert R. Morrison of Oakdale, N.Y. passed away on August 29, 2019, at the age of 84. Albert was born on October 5, 1934 in Manhattan, NY. He was separated from his siblings at an early age and grew up in Sayville, NY with foster parents and his brother, Bart. After high school, he was recruited by the NY Giants baseball team but was drafted by the Air Force at the same time. He signed on with the Air Force and during that time he lived in Puerto Rico and played baseball. Once he returned from the Air Force, he worked as a salesman for Borden, and then for Queens Farms which later was taken over by Tuscan Dairy Farms. In 1988, he purchased a dairy distributing company, Broadway Heights Dairy and within two years, the company sales were doubled. Over the years he continued to build the dairy sales volume up and had many loyal long term employees that he cared about like family. Broadway Heights Dairy is still a family business.

Al also was very involved in politics throughout the years. He volunteered countless hours and was a committeeman for the Republican party and held a position on the Town of Islip zoning board of appeals for 37 years. He was elected to the judicial committee for several years. Al loved his family, baseball, OTB, craps, fishing, golf, stock trading and spending time with friends. Al traveled to Long Beach three times a week when his grandson was born to help watch him while his daughter worked in NYC. He was famous for spoiling him and never putting the baby down. Al always wore the “polo pony” in red, yellow, white or tan and he even liked to have the pony on socks and underwear! He enjoyed life and everything he did, ate or saw was always, “The best in the world”. He was very active with his grandchildren and only five years ago, he was an assistant baseball coach for his grandson. He never missed a practice and was often running around the baseball field faster than men half his age. He was an extremely generous man and there was nothing that he would not do for his friends or his family. Al loved to travel to the Florida Keys every year and during the past decade, his trips to the keys got longer and longer in time. He enjoyed spending time there with his family and friends and during Trump’s 2016 campaign, it seemed as though Trump was there with him since the TV and the speeches were on 24/7. Al is survived by his wife, Maryann; his 2 children, Kim & Steven; their spouses, Patrick & Karina; and 3 grandchildren who were the loves of his life; Ryan, Alexandra, P.J.
